twalterBy chance today a found an interesting
real castle featured on the back page
of Fine Homebuilding (Jan 99 issue).
Started by Peter Wing in 1969 after he got
back from Vietnam, it looks finished but
they claim it's a work in progress. IMHO
it has an organic, hodge-podge, build-by-the-
seat-of-your-pants, storybook look.
Interesting but I like a more orderly line.
It has a swimming pool on each side of the
castle connected by a cool swimming pool
tunnel. If this is your thing, you'll love
it. It's located in Millbrook, NY and they
give tours. (PS. I haven't scoured this
site. So excuse me if you've already covered
this. The search function claims you haven't.)
TheScribeNo, we are not aware of a website for Wing Castle. We have been in email contact with Peter several times. He has sent us photos which we hope to put in the Photo Archive once it re-opens. He also sent us info on a news story that CNN (I believe) did on him. We noted this in the last COTW news. We are hoping he takes us up on our offer of hosting his webpage... our fingers are crossed. Thanks for the info!
